We don’t think, there is a skill gap, but there is certainly a lack of guidance, environmentle updates, lack of political will power to change the farmers situation. There is lot of talent available in market, but is either directionless in “what to do” ? there is no boost for “rural economy” and peoples are running behind cities to find the job and landup wasting their real talent and expertise.

So, unless we work together to educate people about the alarming situations to come in agriculture, hold the ground to hope that better things will come out, will help us all for prospering agriculture and farmers life.

Please, let us know what you think. Thanks.

There is huge disconnect between Life Skills and Livelihood Skills in our country. Our education system gives emphasis on Livelihood Skills all the time but impetus on Life Skills is missing all the way. We are forgetting that Livelihood Skills are the end then Life Skills are the means to reach that end. And that is why we are directionless and encountering questions like what to do. Certainly Skill is linked with Will, so we are facing skill gap in our country due to lack of will to work upon.

exactly ! We are tought to pass the exam and not to “learn the life” and face its complexities. Please, check http://www.greenschool.org/ its a green school in Bali, which is excellent example of how children’s should be tought while growing. I have seen few examples in US govt.s website as well, where they teach growing with nature.. Life starts from there.. There should be collective effort in spreading awareness about importance of agriculture, importance of preserving natures ecosystem and so on.

As on date who wants to join agriculture and if by any means or chance you join it then what extra mile you are taking to make it sunshine sector. And this is happening due to lack of will to sharpen your skill and finally you are compelled to kill the industry.

Dear Saurabh,
You have asked very important question in simple way. In my point skill (An ability that has been acquired by training) is lacking in Agriculture and allied sector. There is need of skill oriented Agriculture in our country. Question comes , Why ?
Because skill increases efficiency, courage, ability to take risk and finally it provides a vision. Utmost in Indian Agriculture we lack skill in Agriculture. Same type of farming we are still following which was started 100 years back.
Time has given many example of skilled people doing well in the Agriculture.
e.g Silkworm rearing, Honey bee rearing and many more.
Agriculture is highly reneumerative once you get grip on it.
So, Agricultural colleges, government should encourage farmers training.
Kind Regards,
